From Our Family And Music Minister | I hope everyone enjoyed the choir leading us in worship this past Sunday. I am so thankful for the talented people we have in this church.  I pray that the music ministered to you as much as it minsters to me. After over 20 years of leading Christmas programs, it is beautiful to retell the same story with so much excitement and relevance year after year. Yet, for some reason, this time of year also makes me think of familiar faces we don’t get to see much anymore or, unfortunately, not at all. Yet, those people have influenced my life and shared the joy they have found in Christ with me. These people will always have a special place in my heart and memories.

From Our Family And Music Minister |   Only a few weeks left! The weather is trying to get cold; the Christmas lights are up; stores are full with all the new latest gadgets and gizmos; people are doing all their last-minute shopping. Christmas is my favorite time of year, but every year it seems to get started earlier and earlier. Don’t get me wrong. I love going and buying the perfect gift for a friend and on more than one occasion I have been talked into giving a gift a little early. I can’t help that I’m a pushover. As much as I enjoy the time with friends and sharing gifts, I enjoy the atmosphere and the attitude of people.

From our Family and Music Minister | Jesus is not only our Savior; He was a great teacher who knew how to reach people. Jesus met people at their point of need. He did not try to teach them about His Father until He showed them that He genuinely cared for them and was sympathetic to their current condition.  Jesus met immediate needs by turning water into wine and feeding the five thousand, but he also took the time to meet the emotional needs of people.

From Our Pastor | Wow!  Thursday is Thanksgiving!  I hope you have a great day enjoying your favorite Thanksgiving traditions.  But, more than anything, I hope it is truly a day of giving thanks unto the Lord.  I hope we all “Shout joyfully to the Lord, all the earth.  Serve the Lord with gladness; come before Him with joyful singing” (Psalm 100:1-2).  Further, I hope we “Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise.  Give thanks to Him, bless His name” (Psalm 100:4).

From our Family and Music Minister | My Dad always enjoyed making us laugh or playing a little joke on his family. One of his jokes that I vividly remember unexpectedly backfired on him; however, it was in a good way.

From Our Family and Music Minister | Do you ever have those memories that you wish you could forget? One I wish I could forget was an altercation with a new student at my high school. He was expelled from his previous school for fighting and had only been at Tiftarea for a few weeks. So I can say I didn’t start it, but I also let him get to me. As a result, I broke the Gym door, and he and I went to the principal. But fortunately, I was usually well behaved, so the principal told me to watch my temper and sent me on my way.
