Your First Visit

Welcome to First Baptist Church! We are so excited you would like to join us for worship. Visiting a new church can be intimidating and uncomfortable, so we would like to make your visit as welcoming as possible. Here are answers to some frequently asked questions. We look forward to meeting you and worshipping with you.

What is Sunday Morning like?

There are two aspects of our ministry that take place on Sunday Morning.

First, we begin with a small group Bible study. We call this Sunday School, and it starts at 9:45 a.m. Each small group has people of similar ages or stages in life. There is time for fellowship with others, prayer, and a study of God’s Word. Please check out our Sunday School page for more information on each class.

Second is our corporate worship gathering. Our worship time begins at 11:00 a.m. and lasts approximately one hour. Here we sing songs of praise, hymns, and choruses and are challenged with Biblical truth taught directly from God’s Word.

Where do I park and enter the church?

There are three parking lots on the church property that you are free to use. Our main parking lot is on McLendon St. next to the church building.  For Sunday School, enter under the white awning on the side of the church. For worship, you are welcome to come through the front door of the sanctuary facing McLendon St.
For a more detailed map or to find the location of an individual Sunday school class, go to our “Where We Meet” page.

Is there a dress code?

We are more concerned about you and your presence with us than we are with what you wear. If you prefer dressy, business, or casual attire, there will be others dressed much like you. You will find suits and ties, dresses, high heels, polo shirts and jeans.

How long are your worship services?

The worship service lasts for about one hour.

Where do my children go during worship?

Children are very important at First Baptist, and we are glad you want them to grow in their relationship with Christ.

Infants to Preschool: We offer a nursery located behind the sanctuary. Check out our “Where We Meet Page” for a map.  If you would feel more comfortable contacting someone prior to visiting, complete  our contact form, and someone will be in touch with you.

We consider that worship is vital to the growing faith of our children.  We welcome children  to attend worship with their parents. We understand children can be restless, but we enjoy the sounds of children in the church.

If you have any other questions, please feel free to call the church office at 229-567-9320, contact one of our staff directly by going to our staff page, or fill out the form on the Contact-us page.

We look forward to serving you in any way that we can.
