From Our Pastor
Child of God, isnāt it wonderful knowing that we can trust our Father with everything in our lives? The size and scope of the problem does not matter. Our prominence among men is irrelevant. Any hindrances are easily defeated by Him. We can trust our Father in every circumstance.
The people in Luke 8:26-56 learned they could trust the Lord. None of them were celebrities or V.I.P.ās. Each had a serious problem. Each of them received a miracle from our Lord.
What do we learn from these people? We learn of the Lord Jesusā compassion. Our Lord cares enough about us to act. This compassion is based on Him. It is not because we have anything to offer.
Consider these people. The first was a man possessed by many demons. These demons had made this man a terrifying object of their control.
The second person was a worried father of a twelve-year-old girl. One pre-teen girl? Our Lord had huge multitudes following Him. Why should He be bothered about one pre-teen girl ā especially in a culture that did not value women?
The last person was a woman who had been stricken with a disease for twelve years. One woman? In that culture? One woman instead of a multitude?
Who would have compassion on such people? The Lord Jesus! He cared about the demon possessed man, the scared father, the sick girl, and the diseased woman. No one else may have cared about these people but our Lord did.
Believer, the Lord cares about you and will act. No one else may know you, notice you, or value you, but He does. He cares about you. Trust Him (1 Peter 5:7).
These people also show us the Lordās power. Our Lord cast the many demons out the man. This shows our Lord is greater than Satan. His power is unlimited. He healed the woman who merely touch the fringe of His cloak. The smallest contact with Him did what no one else had been able to do for twelve years. Our Lord raised the girl from the dead. This shows His power over death. All life is in His hands. Such power displayed in just these people! Thereās truly no situation that is too great for our Lord.
Last, these people show our Lordās lovingkindness. He sent the man who had been demon possessed home to be a witness. Imagine the joy and celebration he had with family and friends! He called the healed woman āDaughterā ā a term of loving tenderness. He told her to go in peace. That meant an inner wholeness and wellness. Our Lord comforted a scared father. Our Lord even wanted the girl he had raised from the dead to be fed! He cared about all of the needs of these people. He cares about every need or burden we have as well. We can trust Him with each one.
What a God we have! Whatever you are facing, trust Him with it. He will not fail you. He will bless you.
