MID-WEEK DEVOTION

Don’t forget to check out Brother David’s Mid-Week Devotion in the book of Psalms. They are uploaded each Wednesday on the sermon page.

From Our Pastor

Do you spend time with God in His Word?  Don’t rob yourself!  God blesses and guides us through the Scriptures.  In Psalm 19:7-8, David was inspired to write, “The law of the Lord is perfect, restoring the soul; the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple.  The precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes.”

Think about what God does through His Word.  First, He restores our soul.  He does this on so many levels.  He brings us to salvation.  He convicts us of sin and leads us to His cleansing.  He comforts us from the strains of life.  When we spend time with Him in His Word, He renews us from within.

Next, He gives us wisdom.  That means the ability to look at life and living from God’s perspective.  Through His Word, He guides us into what is true, real, worthwhile, and good.  We’ll be able to see through the smoke screen of this world in which we live.

God also uses His Word to bring us into His joy.  This world tries to create happiness through means that never last and are always dependent upon the circumstances.  God gives us joy from within in spite of the circumstances.

Last, God gives us guidance.  This world is full of confusion and conflicting lies.  We struggle with knowing what to do.  God will guide us through His Word.  He will reveal commands, principles, and examples to guide us as we live.  He gives a solid, certain and secure path through this world.

What a treasure God has given in His Word!  How we need to spend time in the Word listening to our Father.  That will be the most important part of our day.
