THE CHRISTMAS POST OFFICE IS BACK.

Start working on your Christmas Cards. The Camp Post Office will open Sunday morning, November 27. If you would like to send Christmas cards to church members who live in Ashburn, drop them off and let us sort and distribute them for you. Donations to the post office will go towards shipping and items for Operation Christmas Child Boxes.

OCC PRep night- Tuesday, November 1, 2022

We need volunteers to help us prepare for our church-wide packing night. We will meet at 5:00 PM on Tuesday to label and assemble boxes, open up packages, and organize items to be packed.

“I wish God would use me.”  Have you ever had that thought?  Perhaps there is a situation in your family that needs to be radically changed.  Or, you have a friend whose life desperately needs to be changed.  Maybe you look at the people around you and want to share the Gospel with them.  I’m sure all of us are wanting God to use us in some way. 

What would enable us to be more usable?  Do we need certain talents or traits?  Are there skills that we need to develop?  What can we do to be used by God?

When we study the call of Moses in Exodus 3, we find some key lessons that God taught him.  While Moses’ calling and ministry were unique, the lessons apply to each of us.  If we are going to be used by God, we must learn these same lessons.

The first lesson that God taught Moses was about Himself.  In verse 5, God told Moses to take off his sandals.  Moses needed to see God in His holiness and righteousness.  In verse 6, God spoke of Him being the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.  Moses needed to know God as the “Great I Am”.  Moses needed to know that God was the One who could do the impossible.  Moses needed to know the faithfulness of God.  Moses needed to know God.

Like Moses, our first requirement in being used by God is a growing knowledge of who He is.  We must know Him to be used by Him.  The closer we are to Him the more we will be used by Him.

The next lesson we must learn is God’s great love for us and those to whom we hope to minister.  In verse 7 God tells Moses that He has seen Israel’s slavery and heard their cry for help.  God loved His people and was deeply moved by their distress.  God’s love for us has been forever proven at Calvary.  We are eternally and immeasurably loved.  We need to rest in His love for the confidence and security of His working through us.

God then told Moses that He planned to deliver Israel (verse 8).  God has a plan and a purpose for our lives (Jeremiah 29:11).  We are not having to convince God to use us.  It has been His plan to use us since before He ever created us – in fact, from before He made the world!  (Ephesians 1:3-6; 2:8-10).  God has planned a role for us to fulfill in His great eternal plan.

Last, Moses needed to know God’s equipping.  In verse 10-11, Moses tells God that there is no way He is capable of confronting Pharaoh and delivering Israel.  God answers Moses by saying that He would be with him (verse 12).  The idea is that God would make it happen and would enable Moses to fulfill the task.

God fully intends to equip us to serve Him.  He fills us with His Spirit and gifts us to fulfill his calling.  He gives us everything we need for every situation.  Like Moses, we must learn to trust His equipping.

We don’t have to simply wish that God would use us.  He wants to use us.  It has always been His plan to use us.  We just need to learn the lessons that will make us usable.
