LOTTIE MOON CHRISTMAS OFFERING

The Lottie Moon Christmas Offering® is an annual offering collected by believers around the world to support international missions. The offering was officially named in 1918 by Woman’s Missionary Union in honor of the missionary to China who urged churches to start it and give sacrificially.

This offering is unique from other mission offerings in that 100% of gifts provide for missionaries all over the world. It is a valuable part of Southern Baptists’ 175-year history of reaching the nations with the gospel and vital to reaching the vision of a multitude from every language, people, tribe and nation knowing and worshiping our Lord Jesus Christ.

From Our Pastor

Wow!  2020 is almost over.  What a year it has been!  We have experienced a pandemic, violence, unrest and political division.  All of us hope that 2021 will be very different!

How can we prepare for the new year?  What do we need to do so that we will be ready for 2021 – no matter what events it brings?

There is no better passage than Proverbs 3:5-6.  This passage ends with the beautiful promise of God that He will make our path straight.  This means that God will not only tell us what to do, but that He will go before us and clear our path.

How do we experience this promise?  The passage clearly lists the conditions.  First, we must trust in the Lord with all of our heart.  This means that we base our lives on God being who He says He is and doing what He has said He will do.  We must make God the foundation of our life and living.

Next, we don’t lean on our own understanding.  This does not mean that we stop thinking.  Rather, it means that we allow God’s truths to establish the framework in which we think.  We stop using man’s opinions and values and rest on God’s revealed truths.

Last, we acknowledge Him in all of our ways.  This means that we recognize God’s authority in every part of our lives.  We seek to obey Him in every situation.  To acknowledge Him means that doing God’s will is our goal in every situation.

Talk about New Year’s resolutions!  Those are the best ones!  They are also the only ones that will enable us to experience God’s guidance.

Have a happy and God led New Year!
