From Our Family and Music Minister | What a great time we had this past Sunday during our Sunday School emphasis Sunday! We appreciate the hostess committee providing breakfast and Steve coming and leading our teachers through training and sharing about discipleship in the morning service. We also would like to thank our Sunday School teachers who spend so much time week to week preparing to lead us through Sunday School. However, even though we had a great time of teaching and worship, it really is pointless if the information doesn’t make it past Sunday.

From Our Family and Music Minister | While intending to clean the house, I have been known to get started and realize there is something wrong with the vacuum cleaner. So I take it to my work table and start to halfway finish a project already laid out so I can work on the vacuum cleaner. Then I go to the computer and look up a Youtube video on fixing the vacuum cleaner, and before I find the video, I get sucked down a rabbit hole of other videos that have come up. Then I realize I need to check my e-mail while I am at the computer, which usually leads to me doing something else. Before long, two hours have passed, the vacuum is still broken, the house isn’t clean, and I am in the middle of another project distracted from what I was supposed to be doing.

From Our Family and Music Minister | This week, we celebrate Independence Day on July 4th. The 4th of July is usually associated with family gatherings, picnics, fireworks, parades, and barbecues. However, we cannot celebrate our independence as a nation without remembering those who sacrificed for our freedom today. So many men and women lost loved ones trying to have a better future for their families. We must remember that freedom in the United States was not a free gift. It had a significant cost.

From Our Family and Music Minister | As a child, one of my favorite summer activities was swimming. But before I knew how to swim, my dad got us a little kiddy pool that he kept in the backyard all summer. One hot afternoon, I ran out the back door and went to jump in the pool, when I came to a sudden stop and saw a pool full of creatures with claws. I later learned that these were crawdads mixed in with a few crabs the neighbors’ teenage son had caught and was trying to keep alive until they cooked them. But to a young city-raised kid, they were creatures only seen on television and in nightmares.

From Our Pastor | Do you ever fear that your life isnā€™t important?Ā  Perhaps your talents and gifts are used behind the scenes and do get as much attention as others get with their talents. Maybe you look at your accomplishments and think, ā€œThatā€™s not much.ā€Ā  Perhaps what you are doing now does not seem to measure up to what you have done in the past.

From Our Pastor | When we think about the direction and focus of our lives, few things have more impact than our priorities.Ā  Yes, we have responsibilities, commitments, and obligations, but most of those are shaped by our priorities.
