From Our Pastor
âGod, where are you?â Have you ever asked that question? We have all wondered that at times. Long periods of pain, stress, worry, or heartache will cause us to question Godâs love and presence.
No doubt the Hebrews in Exodus chapters 1-2 asked where God was. They were in harsh, cruel slavery in Egypt. Their lives became increasingly bitter. In fact, Pharaoh wanted to kill all the Hebrew boy babies in order to exterminate the race.
Exodus 2:24-25 makes it clear that He had not abandoned His people. Godâs actions toward the Hebrews then are the same actions He undertakes today toward us.
First, God heard their groaning (v. 24). God invites us to pray and listens to our prayers (Jeremiah 33:3). God may not be answering as quickly as we desire, but we can always have confidence that He is listening to our prayers. Plus, we have the intercession of the Holy Spirit (Romans 8:26-27). Even when we donât know how to pray, the Holy Spirit is praying for us. On top of that, our Lord is at the right hand of the Father interceding for us (Hebrews 1:3; 4:14-16; 7:25; 1 John 2:1).
Next, God remembered His covenant with them. Child of God, the Father has not and will never forget you. He chose you in eternity past (Ephesians 1:4-6), formed you in your motherâs womb (Psalm 139:13-15), made a plan for your life (Psalm 16:5-6; 139:16), caused you to be born again (John 3:6-8), sealed you with His Spirit (Ephesians 1:4-6), and gifted you to serve Him (Ephesians 4:7-16). There is no way He will forget you. In fact, The Holy Spirit inspired David to write that even if our parents would forget us, God never will (Psalm 27:10). Child of God, the Father has not forgotten you and will never forget you.
Last, God saw Israel, verse 25 says, âGod saw the sons of Israel and God took notice of themâ. He knew what they were experiencing. This seeing was not just an awareness of the situation but a compassionate look that was going to act on their behalf. Believer, God sees you and will act in His perfect time and way.
We need in Matthew 14:14, âWhen He went ashore, He saw a large crowd and felt compassion for them and healed their sick.â The next verse begins the account of our Lordâs feeding the 5000 men. Child of God, the Father sees everything about your circumstances with a look of compassion that causes Him to work on your behalf.
What a wonderful Father we have! He hears, remembers and sees us. Whatever you are facing today, you can rest in Him.
