Congratulations
Congratulations to Elijah Alford on receiving the Rosemary Johnson scholarship as he continues his education at ABAC. Elijah is one of twelve students selected to participate in one of the most prestigious organizations on campus, the ABAC Ambassadors. The scholarship is presented by Rosemaryâs Joy Sunday School Class, Brenda Lee teacher. Keep up the good work Elijah!
CORPORATE PRAYER TIME
Prayer is one of the most important disciplines we should practice as a church body. Each week, we will pray for the church, community, country, and many other needs. We will have prayer time in the church sanctuary on Wednesday at 6:30 PM.

MISSION OPPORTUNITY
The Turner Baptist Association will be hosting a VBS at Rock Creek Baptist Church in Marianna, Fl. The association is putting together 96 backpacks to give away to the children who participate. First Baptist has volunteered to provide bath cloths, markers, and pencil sharpeners. Please leave the items outside the church office. We need to collect all of these items by May 30. From our Family and Music Minister
Every few weeks, I get the privilege of picking up Maya and Gael from school. Even though I am not their blood Uncle, I consider myself their favorite Uncle. As I wait in line to pick them up, they have completely different reactions when they realize it is me. Gael quietly and calmly walks to the car, but he is talking uncontrollably and bouncing all over the vehicle as soon as the door shuts. When I pick up Maya, as soon as she sees it is me, she starts jumping up and down and telling the teacher that I have come to get her. As you can see, they are complete opposites.
Iâm sure as parents or grandparents you have experienced this following example. When their Mom drops them off in the morning, Gael gets out of the car first; when his Mom says “I love you” if his friends can hear, he keeps on walking like he didnât hear her. And of course, Maya doesnât mind yelling back; “I love you” on her way into school. Iâm sure most of you are familiar with or have seen these same scenarios happen with other children. It almost can become comical as to how embarrassed children can become by their parents. But when we think about it, how ashamed are we about our relationship with God?
Paul states in Romans 1:16, âFor I am not ashamed of the gospel.â Paul was overwhelmingly enthusiastic about sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ around him. In the passage, he is talking about sharing the Gospel with Rome. Rome was the Capital of the pagan empire that ruled all of the known worlds at that time. The people did not deter Paul from spreading the Gospel despite his past imprisonment and ridicule he had faced for being a believer.
As believers, God shows His love to us every day. Are we excited about that love? Do we unapologetically reciprocate that love by following His commands? Do you live your day-to-day life where the people around you know that youâre a believer? When a teacher asks a young group of kids a question, every child in that room that knows the answer raises their hand with excitement wanting to be called on. We know the answer to the sinful world we inhabit. Shouldnât we have that same excitement in sharing the Good News of Jesus?
For whoever is ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, of him will the Son of Man also be ashamed when he comes in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.â Mark 8:38
Paul was not ashamed because his message was the Gospel of Christ. It was a message that had a life-changing power, and it was for everyone. Paulâs ultimate desire was to see people saved. He cared nothing for his comfort or popularity. He did not compromise with the culture around him because he knew the Gospel he was sharing was eternal, not temporary.
Just as Maya jumps with excitement, letting her teachers know her Uncle has come to pick her up, we should have an uncontrollable joy to share with our friends: the saving power of our Creator.
