Lottie Moon Christmas Offering

The Lottie Moon Christmas Offering® is an annual offering collected by believers around the world to support international missions. The offering was officially named in 1918 by Woman’s Missionary Union in honor of the missionary to China who urged churches to start it and give sacrificially.

This offering is unique from other mission offerings in that 100% of gifts provide for missionaries all over the world. It is a valuable part of Southern Baptists’ 175-year history of reaching the nations with the gospel and vital to reaching the vision of a multitude from every language, people, tribe and nation knowing and worshiping our Lord Jesus Christ.

Digital CHristmas Eve Service and Lord’s Supper

For anyone who can not join us for our Christmas Eve service, we will be offering a digital service on our website. During the service, we will be partaking in the Lord’s Supper.  For your participation, the elements of the Lord’s supper are available at the church office. If you cannot come by the church, call the church office, and a deacon can deliver them to you.

     Will God bless your efforts?  That is an important question to answer.  In fact, it is the most important question to ask in any situation.  The answer will determine the benefit and outcome in every single part of our lives.

     I’m sure we would all readily state that we want God’s blessing.  But our actions determine if that desire becomes reality.  Good desires must be followed by good actions.

     These key actions are seen in the life of King Jehoshaphat of Judah.  Jehoshaphat was a good king whose life illustrates the need for the right actions in order to be blessed by God. Jehoshaphat’s life provides us some key tests to evaluate our lives.

     The first test is the test of fellowship.  With whom do we have (or try to have) fellowship?  Sure, we relate to many different people but with whom do we have a relationship that influences our lives?

     Unfortunately, Jehoshaphat serves as a negative example in this area.  In 2 Chronicles 18, he allies himself with evil King Ahab of Israel.  Nothing good could come from such a relationship.  God rebuked him for it in 2 Chronicles 19:2; however, Jehoshaphat later allied himself with wicked King Ahaziah of Israel.  Both of these allegiances resulted in disaster.

     Believer, we are told not to be bound together with unbelievers (2 Corinthians 6:14-18).  That means an influencing relationship.  Such a relationship will not have God’s blessing.

     Jehoshaphat also illustrates the test of heeding.  To whom do we listen?  In 2 Chronicles 18, Ahab wants Jehoshaphat to join him in a war against Ramoth-Gilead.  Ahab provides 400 false prophets who promise disaster.  Ahab and Jehoshaphat listen to the false prophets.  The result is that Israel is routed, Ahab is killed, and Jehoshaphat barely escapes.  Jehoshaphat heeded the wrong prophets.

     Believer, it is only by heeding God’s word that you will have success (Joshua 1:8).  It is only the doers of the Word who are blessed (James 1:22-25).  Who you heed will determine if you experience God’s blessing. 

     Last, Jehoshaphat shows the test of trust.  In 2 Chronicles 20, Judah was invaded by Moab, Ammon and the Meunites.  There was no way Judah could prevail against such forces.  What did Jehoshaphat do?  He prayed to God and led Judah to seek God.  God answered and wonderfully delivered Judah.  He blessed their trust in Him.

     Believer, if you are going to have God’s blessing, you must live by faith (Hebrews 11:6).  That means simply that we act upon what God has revealed about Himself, His ways and His commands.  Only then will we have God’s personal intervention as experienced by Jehoshaphat and Judah.

     God wants to bless our efforts.  We must guard our fellowship, heeding and trust.  He will then move in ways that exceed our greatest hopes.
