Gideon Sunday, January 26, 2025
This Sunday, join us for a special service as we observe Gideon Sunday! We are honored to have a special guest speaker who will share inspiring insights about the ministry and its impactful work.
At the end of the service, we will take up a special offering to support this awesome ministry. Your generosity will help extend the reach of their mission and touch countless lives.
The Gideons International began distributing the Word of God in 1908. Today, there are more than 269,500 Gideons and Auxiliary – and an untold number of supporters – in some 200 countries, territories, and possessions across the globe. These dedicated individuals have given their time and money to make it possible for others to learn about the love of God by giving them access to His Word. We have placed and distributed more than 2 billion Bibles and New Testaments around the world.
If you would like to participate in this men’s conference, contact Jonathan at 567-5041. I will be leading worship at this event, so I will not be able to provide transportation, but I will be glad to connect those who would like to attend.
The Guest Speaker is Daniel Ritchie from North Carolina. Daniel was born without arms and faced a unique kind of adversity. Yet, after he surrendered his life to Christ, he learned that only in Christ could true worth and purpose be found.
The cost is $20 at the door. This includes steak supper on Friday night and breakfast on Saturday.

MID-WEEK DEVOTION
Remember to check out Brother David’s Mid-Week Devotion in the Book of Psalms. They are uploaded each Wednesday on the sermon page.
From Our Family and Music Minister
This week, we will experience some of the coldest temperatures we have experienced this winter season. As I heard the weather report, I couldn’t help but remember my first ice storm. It was a few days before Christmas, and my dad took us to take pictures with Santa. Santa was greeting kids in one of the premade aluminum storage buildings on display at the Swanne Swifty, and a large fan was going since Santa was forced to be dressed for an Arctic winter in south Georgia. Since I was dressed for the weather that year, our picture showed Santa sweating and me sitting in his lap in shorts and a t-shirt. After seeing that picture, it would be hard to believe that an ice storm hit that night, knocking out power and bringing freezing temperatures.
I can remember playing with my toys in the den while the relatives who spent every year with us at Christmas were watching TV when the lights went out. I did not like the dark, and I remember sitting close to the gas fireplace in the light while my parents lit candles around the room. Just as the fireplace provided me warmth and safety from the sudden cold front, God does the exact same thing when fear suddenly comes into our lives. The prophet Isaiah wrote, “fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand” (Isaiah 41:10, ESV).
As temperatures drop, we automatically reach for coats to shield ourselves from the cold. Just as we wrap up physically, we must also remember to wrap ourselves spiritually. The warmth of God’s love and the strength of His promises protect our hearts when we experience cold. We can read in Psalms, “He will cover you with his feathers. He will shelter you with his wings. His faithful promises are your armor and protection” (Psalm 91:4, NLT). Just as we layer up to guard against freezing winds, we must clothe ourselves in the whole armor of God to protect ourselves from the attacks of Satan.
Our bodies are not designed to embrace the cold without some protection. In the same way, our hearts cannot embrace a sinful world without protection. Just as our instincts tell us to grab a coat when it’s cold, they should be just intuned to grab God’s Word when our hearts are struggling. We know from experience that our lives can experience a sudden storm that can catch us off guard. Therefore, as we prepare for the physical elements, may we also prepare our hearts, trusting that He will keep us warm and safe through every storm.
