Deacon Election
It is time to begin the process of deacon election. However, due to Covid-19 health concerns, we have chosen not to use paper ballots. An email went out early this week with the names of the known eligible men and how to vote.
You can vote in 2 ways. Call Nikki, and you can vote with her over the phone, or contact Jonathan to receive a link to vote online through text or email.
The deacon election is open to all church members.

From Our Family and Music Minister
Since the creation of time, God has wanted us to desire a close personal relationship with Him. His arms are wide open to pick us up and carry us if we reach out and ask. Even when we have sinned against Him, His arms are still waiting for us. We see in Genesis a picture of the great love that God has for His children even when we follow paths not pleasing to Him.
We see God’s forgiveness over and over again through God’s dealings with His chosen people, the Israelites. God desires to bring man into a close relationship with Him, but man’s sin and wrong choices continue to put a vast chasm between God and man. Then God made the ultimate sacrifice by sending His Son to die on the cross for us. Our sins were forgiven through His sacrifice, and when God looks at us, the grace of Jesus covers our sin.
God has made it where nothing can stand in the way of a close personal relationship with Him besides what we put in between our heavenly Father and us. Through prayer and quiet time, we can communicate with our Father. We can tell Him all that is bothering us, our biggest fears, our greatest needs, and our darkest secrets. Of course, God is never surprised by what we say. He takes the time to listen to each and every one of us. Just like a loving father, we may not always get the response or answer we want from Him, but His responses are always the best for us.
I challenge you to take the time to meet with your heavenly Father every day. You may say that you don’t have time. We have to make the choice that God is going to be on our schedule every day. You may want to have a specific Bible reading plan or Bible study to follow during your quiet time, but don’t be tied down to what you have planned so much that you don’t listen when God steers you another way. Be open to His leading as God guides you through His Word and prayer.
This week has been set aside for Georgia Baptists to pray for our country. Take the time to lift up our leaders and pray for a great spiritual awakening to break out among our citizens. Pray for our school leaders as they battle the complications of starting school. Finally, always keep God’s church here in Ashburn in your prayers, that we will be a light to this community and share the love of Jesus with everyone.
