Lottie Moon Christmas Offering
Church Goal $3000
Received to Date $1285.00
What is the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering?
Lottie Moon was sent as a Southern Baptist missionary to China from 1873 to 1912. She saw firsthand the world’s greatest problem — LOSTNESS. Meeting so many people who had never heard the gospel compelled her to write letters to American churches describing the need for a greater missionary presence.
She pleaded for increased prayer and financial support to send and sustain more missionaries. This challenge became known as the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering.

From Our Family and Music Minster
Christmas is upon us; hopefully, you all have plans for that special day by now. Forbes magazine published a study that in Christmas of 2014, over 99 million people traveled over nine days surrounding Christmas. A large percentage of those are people who say they are returning home for Christmas. When we think about it, home is a place where we feel comfortable, relaxed, and safe. If you think about it as we go through our lives, what we consider home changes. A popular Christmas song that I am sure everyone hears is “I’ll Be Home for Christmas.” These lyrics make us think of the desire everyone has to be at home, be loved, or feel like they belong somewhere.
Think of this desire not just for a familiar earthly home but for a home beyond compare. Think of our eternal home, a dwelling place in heaven. The song “I’ll Be Home for Christmas” was written from a soldier’s point of view when he was off at war during the Christmas season. As Christians, we are like a soldier separated from our loved ones; we go through this world, a temporary place far from the comfort and love of our final home.
Just as “I’ll Be Home for Christmas” speaks of snow “glistening” and “children singing by the tree,” the Bible gives us a picture of heaven overflowing with unimaginable beauty and song. There will be streets paved with gold, gates of pearl, and a city beyond compare where we will be in the presence of God Himself. No snowflakes, no fir trees, no earthly pleasures come close to the unimaginable beauty that awaits. Like the soldier dreaming of family reunions, we can’t wait for the day we meet our heavenly Father.
Unlike any earthly home, this home is not a place we visit for a season but a place we journey towards for a lifetime. It’s not a place built of bricks and mortar but a place built by a loving Father for His children. It’s not a place we reach by plane or train, but a place we reach by accepting the gift of eternal life only Jesus can give. It’s not a gift we deserve, but it’s a gift we are freely given.
So, if you hear the familiar tune of “I’ll Be Home for Christmas” this year, let it remind you of a home far greater than any we can imagine. During this Christmas season, remember that you are never alone and that your actual home awaits, a place where every heart finds perfect love and every tired believer finds eternal rest.
