Join us for a relaxing fall train ride between Nashville and Willacoochee, Georgia!
Come enjoy the beautiful fall scenery and foliage on a 2-hour round-trip train ride. It will be a great day to relax, enjoy time together, and take in the sights of fall!

Saturday, October 24
Tickets: $34 per person

Our plan is to purchase tickets for the 10:00 AM train ride. We will leave the church at 8:15 AM and stop for lunch together after the train ride.

If the 10:00 AM ride is sold out, we will try to purchase tickets for the 1:00 PM ride instead. If we take the 1:00 train, we will eat lunch together before the ride.

Important!
We will be purchasing our tickets on October 5, so please sign up and turn in your $34 before then to make sure we can purchase your ticket.

The Finance Committee will begin working on the budget for the upcoming year on October 18. All committee chairs, please submit your budget requests to Allen Whitehead or Nikki no later than October 14.

Do you ever get discouraged about your growth as a Christian?  Perhaps you have failed in some way, and you think, “This should have been out of my life a long time ago.”  Maybe you shrank back in some area, and you wonder, “Why can’t I do this?”

It is easy (and common) to become discouraged about our Spiritual growth and maturity.  While we should always strive to grow, we need not become discouraged.  Philippians 1:6 says, “For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus.”

Think of the wonderful truths of this verse.  First, God Himself is at work in us.  In chapter 2 we read, “For it is God who is at work in you, both to will and to work for His good pleasure” (verse 13).  The Holy Spirit teaches us, convicts us, guides us, and empowers us.  He Himself makes possible the changes He wants in our lives (Romans 8).

Second, God will continue working in us as long as we are on this earth.  God never throws up His hands in despair over our slow growth.  He never thinks or says, “That’s the best I can do with that one – I didn’t have much to work with.”  No, God will work on us as long as we are on this earth.

Last, the day will come when we are perfected.  Whether by our passing or the Lord’s coming for His church.  We will finally become all He has always wanted to be.  When we are with Him, all of our weaknesses and failures will be in the past.  We will fulfill the plan He has always had for us.

Don’t get discouraged with your Spiritual progress.  Sure, confess any sins or failures.  Believe God’s wonderful grace.  Trust His working to make you who God has always wanted you to be.
